Three Ukrainian volunteers find themselves encircled by invading Russian troops. They do not only need to survive and save civilians and their wounded fellow soldiers, but also remain human amidst the bloodshed and atrocities of the undeclared war.

August 2014. Donbas. Border. Incursion. Border guards are encircled. Sheva, a young inexperienced lieutenant, leads a column of trucks with soldiers, many heavily wounded, under heavy enemy fire to break out of the encirclement. Phones and radios are dead.

One wounded machine gunner, nom de guerre "Boar", is left behind in a hospital in separatist-controlled territory. He is hunted by the FSB and militants. Boar escapes sure death by hiding under dead bodies in the morgue.

A tanker, nom de guerre "Lawyer", witnesses a horrifying scene: separatists fire at a car with civilians. The only survivor is a little girl. The soldier has to choose between saving his life and surrendering to save the girl.

There is no beauty in the film. There is war, horror and death. Yet love and dedication win, for otherwise life is senseless.
